Reader-Response
Louise Rosenblatt, in her book Literature as Exploration, delves deep into the concept of a reader-response literary theory. Rosenblatt moves past the idea that there is only one correct reading of any given text. Instead, she calls for the reader to interact with the text on a personal level. While the author has an intended message in the text, each reader approaches that message from a different angle, which leads to a diversity of reader responses. Rosenblatt’s reader-response theory is used to allow the students a choice of platform in which to voice their responses on the chosen novel.
Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy
Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy was proposed by Benjamin Bloom in 1956 and revised in 2001. Using this set of hierarchical educational objectives, students will analyze and evaluate the novel to create a final product that showcases what they have learned.
